Our process

How a Layout Loft website comes together

Six clear steps, from your first message to a live website. AI helps along the way, and I stay involved throughout, reviewing and testing the work. You review it too, before anything goes live.

The six steps

  1. Step 1: Tell me about your business.

It starts with a short enquiry through the contact form. From there, I'll ask about:

    • Your business's goals and your audience
    • Your products or services
    • Your current website, if you have one
    • The pages and features you'd like
    • Your preferred style, and example websites you like
    • Your budget range and timing

I'll also ask what action you'd like visitors to take, and what a successful website would achieve for you.

  2. Step 2: Gather the materials and agree on a plan.

Next, we collect what the website needs: approved logos, brand colours, photos, written content, and contact information. If anything is missing, I'll point it out so we can decide how to handle it.

Before the build starts, I'll summarize the page structure, features, responsibilities, price, timeline, and revision scope, so you can agree to the plan first.

  3. Step 3: Design and build with AI assistance.

AI tools help generate ideas and support development, while I guide the layout, content, and design choices around your brief.

  4. Step 4: Review together.

I'll show you a draft of the website, gather your feedback, and make the revisions included in the agreed scope.

  5. Step 5: Test and validate.

    Before launch, I personally check:

    • Mobile, tablet, and desktop layouts
    • Navigation and links
    • Forms
    • Spelling and content accuracy
    • Key interactions

Hands-on checks and automated checks are different things. I may also use AI or automated tools to help spot issues such as broken links or typos, but they're an extra layer, not a replacement for my own hands-on review. These are practical checks to catch problems before launch. No one can promise a website will never have a bug.

  6. Step 6: Approve, launch, and hand over.

Once you give your final approval, I connect the agreed domain and hosting, verify the live website, and explain how future edits and any agreed support will work.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you use AI?

Yes. I use AI tools to help plan, design, and build websites. AI helps generate ideas and support development, while I guide the layout, content, and design choices around your brief. I stay involved throughout the project, reviewing the content, checking the design, and testing key features before launch.

Who reviews and tests the website?

I do. Before launch, I personally check the mobile, tablet, and desktop layouts, navigation, links, forms, spelling, content accuracy, and key interactions. I may also use automated tools as an extra check, but they don’t replace my own review. You also review the draft and can request changes before you give final approval.

What do I need to provide?

Usually your approved logo, brand colours, photos, written content, and contact information, plus anything else we identify while planning. If something is missing, I’ll let you know early so we can decide how to handle it.

Can I request changes?

Yes. You’ll review a draft and can share feedback and request changes. The revisions included are part of the plan we agree on before the build starts, so we both know what’s covered.

How are cost and timing decided?

After we discuss your project. Cost and timing depend on things like the pages, features, and materials involved, so there are no fixed prices or delivery times. I’ll summarize the price, timeline, and revision scope in the plan for you to agree to before any building starts.
